UAEclimbing.com - Is a site that I decided to create in order to try and get all of the climbers in the UAE together and make it a little bit easier to find groups and partners. When I first showed up in Dubai all I had was a small paragraph in a guide book telling me about the Wafi indoor wall. So I decided to head down with some gear and see what it was like. Luckily for me I had gone there on a Monday night and got talking to a few friendly climbers who kindly invited me along and showed me to a lot of the climbing in the UAE. I was sure however, that a lot of climbers who came to the UAE didn’t have the same opportunity. The climbing community also seemed very small with a few loose links between ‘tribes’ who were present in the various emirates.

I figured the best way to get all the trips organising and the arranging and meeting of people would be to start a forum. It’s a pretty simple idea but a bit harder than planned. Firstly I don’t know much about web design, and secondly I don’t have a lot of time to dedicate to running the site. The site as it is now is the second edition, the first one was highly overrun with spam and so it basically fell by the way side, and had dually been abandoned. So in short this site is here to try and bring people together and hopefully improve the climbing in the UAE, both for me and for others, take advantage of it if you like. I’m not as selfless as you might think!

About me… Well I’ve been in Dubai for about 3 years, I’m and engineer involved in construction and I like climbing. I try to fit as much climbing into my week as possible and keep fit (not very successfully). That’s me in a nut shell.
